A pioneering woman in her own kind. Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel was born on August 19 in Saumur and died on January 17 in Paris.
During the Roaring Twenties Chanel was known as the "Queen of Fashion". "Elegant is not a matter of a new dress. You're elegant, because you're elegant. "She had her first success in 1921. She was the one who invented the Garçonne style: she drew women sweaters and pleated skirts with lowered waist and decorated hair-do with clochehats and hair bands.
